The Children’s Book Writing Club
PRIMARY: Year 5 – 6. October Half Term 2015.
Have you ever wondered how to solve a mystery? Have you ever thought of writing one yourself?
This unique 2 day workshop is packed full of story writing tips, lively interactive activities, and will focus on helping you to develop your own mystery story. By the end you will have all your need to complete your story over the half term holidays. This lively, interactive workshop will contain:
- a little bit of poetry
- the creative writer's notebook
- finding story ideas and developing a mystery storyline
- understanding what makes up a mystery
- forming characters for mystery writing
- focused and free story writing time
- one to one support from Catherine & Hollie Burwell
- descriptive writing tips and exercises
- how to improve your work
- group and pair work
- a little bit of outdoor work
Note: Hollie will assist on this course. She is Catherine' daughter, and is a Sixth Former studying English literature and is writing her own novel.

What the course includes:
All programme resources for exercises and activities
Supervision of your child between hours of course at 1:10 minimum ratio.
What you will need to bring:
*A simple notebook/exercise book and a pen and pencil
A packed lunch, a bottle of water each day
Footwear and coat suitable for a little outdoor work
