Tap, Tap Tap.
The gentle rhythm of my buckled sandals on the brick floor is comforting. I look down. Searching my battered leather bag, I bring out a faded handkerchief and roughly wipe my grubby face. Shadows, spilt unevenly across the striking red ground, stare at me, their eyes as sharp as needles. I look away, not wanting to think about the loneliness of this deserted prison enclosing me behind merciless bars. My heartbeat echoes powerfully against the solid walls; then stops. In the corner of my eye, I see what I’ve been waiting for.
Run, run…

A Blade of Grass
A blade of grass dying, but desperate to hold onto his last memories,
He dreamed back,
Back to when his parents shouted angrily at each other,
He hated being there,
So he dreamed back,
Back to when he was big enough to touch the fences,
That blocked out the sunlight behind him,
He absolutely hated being there,
So he dreamed back,
Back to when he was just a baby,
Feeling the soft soil beneath him,
And gently getting used to the daily routine,
He certainly loved this,
So he stayed there till his last breath was gone.

What Poppies Say
The banging of gun-
I open a small envelope, in fear and in fright,
It’s addressed to me in squiggly writing,
Scrawled and un-
Like someone was writing their last words.
The trenches are dark and muddy,
I can’t see much but just flames.
The faces of men are scared and worried, but they’re at peace,
The blooms start to open as I close my eyes one last time.
Nature is surrounding me, burying me in a soft, red quilt.
The writing is clear to my eyes,
As I read the sad words of “Goodbye”

At War
Frightened, scared, I march into battle. Faster my heart beats. We take cover behind a bombed helicopter in the woods.
I hand my friend a better gun and a knife in case of close action. I give him a nod to charge at the enemy.
The first battle was charging and it looked awesome !
My men are charging at the dummies. It was an absolute fail, one man tripped and broke his arm the other got shot in the leg and the felt homesick.
I felt so ashamed that they can't run out at a big doll with a paintball gun !
