As a creative author, coach, tutor and former drama teacher,  Catherine wants to give all children and young people the power to believe that they can write and have the satisfaction of seeing their own story produced as  a book.  Richard, also an author, teacher and coach will support students and help with book production after the course is finished. Both have enhanced DBS checks in place.  They have two teenage children who both enjoy writing and creating.

Welcome to Young Writers and  Book-in-a-Week Clubs!

Hello there!

This exciting new venture, based in Harrogate, has been established by writers Catherine and Richard Burwell to help foster young people's creative writing interests by providing unique opportunities for writing.   Many of these opportunities take the form of courses in the holidays.

Young people from Year 5 – Year 10 are welcome to join us on a variety of age-related creative writing courses in the holidays.  At least twice a year, longer courses will run for writing a book, which we publish for you.  We also run occasional competitions.

Courses vary in length.  Coming up for half term:

Catherine's vision is to encourage young writers to believe in themselves and to have exciting opportunities to write.  The book writing club exists to help children & young people use their free time to develop their passion for writing, express themselves in writing creative stories and have the excitement of seeing their own book published.

THE BOOK IN A WEEK CLUB

This is a unique club that offers HOLIDAY opportunities to young people to write their own book in one week, and have it produced in hard copies to keep. Children and young people in school years: 5, 6, 7,  8 and now Year 9 are eligible for holiday clubs. see our calendar below.

If you would be interested in a regular writing club after school, or if you would like to be notified of new competitions please email us on cathy@cathyburwell.com
